Healthy Tuna Snack

It's Saturday night and you're in the mood for something sweet. Put this delicious, healthy tuna snack on the table. Fresh, healthy and tastes just as good as toast. This tuna snack is excellent for a party and is also recommended as an afternoon pick-me-up.

Did you know...

That tuna is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. The fatty acids EPA and DHA in oily fish help keep your heart healthy. They are also good for the brain, blood pressure and eyes. That's why the Health Council recommends eating (fatty) fish such as tuna twice a week.

What you'll need

For 6 toasts

  • 1 can of tuna
  • ½ red onion*
  • 1cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon of yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper

*After weight loss surgery, your intestines may not tolerate onion well. Omit the onion if necessary if this applies to you.

Preparation

  1. Drain the can of tuna well and mash the tuna with a fork in a medium bowl.
  2. Chop the red onion and add to the bowl.
  3. Now add the mustard and yogurt and stir well with a fork.
  4. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  5. Cut the cucumber into medium slices and place them on a plate.
  6. Scoop a spoonful of tuna salad onto a slice of cucumber.
  7. Garnish with a few fresh capers.
